If you like Disney pin trading try these links: Disney's Official Pin Trading Site Disney Vacation Club Points Renting (DVC) Disney Vacation Club points is a way of staying at a deluxe resort for less money. We have done this a few times and have not had any problems yet. This is how it works, we usually check at disboards to see who is renting the points and how much they go for. Normal price is $10-$12 a point. The DVC member owns timeshare points that they can use at the five DVC resorts at WDW. Saratoga Springs, Beach Club Villas, Wilderness Lodge Villas, Boardwalk Villas and Old Key West. The reasons the DVC member may rent his points is due to they were unable to use the points before they expire. For an example: We rented 76 points for Boardwalk for four days equaling 76 pts at $11.00 = $836.00. Remember this was rented at peak season. We paid $10.00 a point on off season for three days equaling $360.00. Normally we would have paid for four nights on peak season at boardwalk $1850.96 w/ tax... Points do not have tax. Keep in mind that Friday and Saturday the points are higher, almost double. Sunday through Thursday the points are 12 dollars a Point per night for Value season.. Its kind of confusing until you get the hang of it but really its not that hard. The important thing to know about renting DVC points is you pay the DVC member directly after they have okayed for you to rent. Usually that's by email or they may give you their phone number to call them. Often they ask for half the price down and then you pay them the rest if full 30 days before the trip. The DVC member makes the reservations in your name. The transaction requires trust on both sides. Make sure the owner sends you the confirmation number from Disney and call DVC members services periodically to reconfirm that the reservation are still in the system. We usually did this 30 days before our trip and have never had any problems or have heard of any one getting ripped off but, you never know! Keep in mind that DVC reservations are not as easy to cancel as resort reservations. Cancellation must take place 30 days or more in advance so make sure you are sure about your dates. Also the owner is taking a risk by making the reservations with his/her points and due to the complex rules they may not be easily redeposit in the owners account. To figure out how many points you may need you can visit tagrel.com which has a DVC point Chart or a DVC point calculator. Also on your room key it show that you are the DVC member which includes some discounts on certain restaurants. You are pretty much treated like you are the DVC member.
